WMT Journal vs TradeZella
TradeZella is a broad trading journal with backtesting, trade replay and AI across stocks, options and futures. WMT Journal is narrower on purpose: it starts with your plan before the open, scores every trade against it and records the market context of each trade.
Pick TradeZella if
You trade futures, options or crypto, or you want backtesting, second-by-second trade replay and AI on your data today.
Pick WMT Journal if
You trade US stocks and your problem isn’t missing data but following your own plan, risk limits and playbooks.
WMT Journal is a trading journal built around pre-trade planning and rule adherence, and it connects both to your post-trade analytics.

Why a different journal
I used TradeZella for years. Then I built something else.
For years I journaled in TradeZella and Tradervue, for my own trading and together with the traders I mentor. Both did the bookkeeping well. Every trade was there, every stat, every chart.
What they couldn’t show me was why the same mistakes kept coming back. Working with mentees, the problem was rarely hidden in the data. It sat in the process before the trade: no written plan, a stop that moved, a size that came from mood. By the time a journal shows you the result, the decision behind it is a day old.
So WMT Journal starts earlier. You write the plan before the open, each play is sized from your risk limit, and after the close every trade is scored against the plan, the limit and the playbook it was meant to follow. The analytics are still there. They connect the outcome back to the process: not just what happened, but whether you did what you said you’d do, and what that was worth.
That also meant leaving out things that look obvious.
No drawing tools or indicators
You already have a charting platform you know well. We show your fills and stops on the chart and stop there.
No backtesting
A journal that also wants to be a simulator ends up doing both halfway.
No wall of reports
A handful of reports that lead to a decision beat hundreds you scroll past.
No blocking
The journal warns you, it never stops a trade. The discipline stays yours.

Questions
Is WMT Journal a good TradeZella alternative?
- For US stock day and swing traders who want their plan, risk limits and playbooks enforced, yes. If you trade futures or options, or you need backtesting and trade replay, TradeZella is the better fit.
How much does WMT Journal cost compared to TradeZella?
- WMT Journal Solo costs €29 a month or €290 a year, Pro €49 a month or €490 a year, cancel any time. TradeZella Essential costs $35 a month or $315 a year; Pro and Ultra cost $59 and $99 a month.
Does WMT Journal have a daily trading plan?
- Yes, it’s where the journal starts. You write each play before the open with bias, entry and stop, the size comes from your risk limit, and after the close every trade is matched against the plan.
How is Trade context different from TradeZella’s market sentiment agent?
- WMT Journal measures the market around every entry and stores it with the trade: trend, gap, relative volume, level breaks, earnings and market cap. You don’t ask for it, it’s there for every trade and can be compared across all of them. TradeZella’s agent gives an AI read on market conditions when you request one.
Does WMT Journal support options or futures?
- Not at the moment. WMT Journal imports US stocks and ETFs.
Can I bring my trade history over from TradeZella?
- WMT Journal imports from your broker, not from other journals. Interactive Brokers and CapTrader sync up to the last 365 days; files from TradeZero, Cobra Trading and TradingView Paper Trading can cover any period.
